Eirene goddess of peace diptych
Eirene — the ancient Greek goddess of peace — drifts through quiet water, her form wrapped in the soft light of renewal.
The name Eirene means peace, yet it is rooted in spring, the season of both awakening and unrest — when new life stirs and harmony hangs in delicate balance. Within these twin panels, serenity and motion intertwine, as if peace itself were breathing beneath the surface.
Created through a process that merges modern photography and printmaking with the ancient art of encaustic, layers of molten beeswax, oils, and resins are built up and fused with fire. The textured surface invites touch, its translucent depth suggesting both concealment and revelation. A one-of-a-kind encaustic mixed media painting — where photography, molten beeswax, and oils merge to reveal a serene underwater world. Layers of texture and translucency create a luminous depth that can only be achieved through fire and time.
Inspired by the Greek goddess of peace, Eirene, whose name also evokes the season of spring — a time of renewal and fragile balance.
This diptych merges underwater photography with fine art materials and layered mediums, creating luminous textures that flow like light through water. A serene meditation on stillness, transformation, and the quiet strength of peace.
